- We are bigger than the Beatles. (Honest! None of those guys weighed over 160.)

- The Taylor Guitar Co. pays Billy to play a Martin. They also pay Don to play the banjo exclusively. Gryf has refused several similar offers from Gibson, but might reconsider for the right price. Taylor has not approached Tom, who is one of their best customers, and has his picture hanging in their lobby.

- Buckeye Creek's debut CD "God's Gift to Bluegrass" sold well under a million copies. Total sales so far: Gryf gave one to his mom, who is currently using it to prop up a short table leg. We're expecting to give away another one any day now. Maybe.

- We recently found out that most show promoters are actually paying us to stop playing. In fact, at our last show they paid us extra to finish early. So we're now offering a "De Luxe" package -- for $50 over our normal rate, we'll play only one song, then clear out. (Three times the cost if that song is "Rocky Top.") Add $75, and we won't even show up. Think about it. You get your money's worth, and we get to stay home. Such a deal.

- Billy's speed as a guitar picker continues to astonish all. At our last show, during a performance of "Salt Creek," he finished playing well before the rest of the band, and went off to get something to eat while the others were just starting into the last verse.

- Gryf was afraid he'd lost a finger last week. He was relieved to find out that he'd just miscounted. Based on that, he's starting to suspect that he doesn't actually have an extra leg after all.

- As a teen, Don was elected "Tomato King" for his home town's annual Tomato Festival and Parade. He was thrilled, but didn't realize at the time that the responsibilities continued well beyond the festival -- Many years and several promotions later, Don became the Tomato God. He now ensures a plentiful tomato crop by playing his banjo. It's a wonderful, but little-understood connection. So this summer, when your garden is crawling with tomatoes and all your friends are trying to give you more, smile and know that Don Bennett, the Tomato God, is playing his banjo.

- We are currently working on a new song by Billy, written to commemorate all those outdoor shows he's played during humid midwestern summers. It's called "While My Guitar Gently Warps," and sounds pretty good when he can stay in tune.
